About Us
The Writers' Corner gives writers from across the UK a chance to test out new scripts through in person and online scratch nights. We are a theatre collective that is all about championing new writers and their stories; every writer should have the chance to explore and test out their new ideas no matter their geographical location, socio- economic background, experience or budget.
Winnie Arhin, founder of The Writers’ Corner, said:
“It’s been so tough for writers to share their work since the pandemic, theatres have struggled. This is our way of adapting to those challenges, by bringing writers and audiences together online and in person platforms.

A scratch night always feels new, fresh, a bit crackly - it may be the first time a writer sees an audience react to their work. While that can be daunting, it’s also what we live for as writers."

The Writers' Corner gives a platform to writers from diverse backgrounds; providing an opportunity for creatives across the UK to collaborate together in a safe, creative space.
Script Submissions
The Writers' Corner will be running online and in person scratch nights through out the year and each event has a theme; we have had nights dedicated to celebrating writer- performers, writers over 40, creatives from the African and Caribbean diaspora, to name a few.
Would you like to test out new material in front of a live audience? Are you on a budget? Maybe not based in a major city? The Writers' Corner is able to give you a platform to showcase your new work from the comfort of your own home and through in person events! All you need to do is submit 10- 15 minutes of work, a short synopsis about your piece and some information about yourself and where you are based.

Scratch Night #8

The Writers' Corner is back again for our second IN PERSON scratch night at Ace Hackney! The theme of this night is LOVE! You'll see short shows reflect this concept and its varying forms. All the pieces are in early stages of development, performed by some amazingly talented actors!
