About Us

The Writers' Corner gives writers from across the UK a chance to test out new scripts through in person and online scratch nights. We are a theatre collective that is all about championing new writers and their stories.

Winnie Arhin, founder of The Writers’ Corner, said:

“It’s been so tough for writers to share their work since the pandemic, theatres have struggled. This is our way of adapting to those challenges, by bringing writers and audiences together through online and in person platforms.

A scratch night always feels new, fresh, a bit crackly - it may be the first time a writer sees an audience react to their work. While that can be daunting, it’s also what we live for as writers."

We give a platform to writers from diverse backgrounds; providing an opportunity for creatives across the UK to collaborate together in a safe, creative space.

What's On

Upcoming event on Wednesday 1st May2024 at The Pleasance Theatre (North London).

“The Writers’ Corner is a special kind of event, special kind of reading and a special kind of audience. Viewers and writers involved are exposed and introduced to the liveliest and newness of work from a cross-section of playwrights.
It has been my honour and pleasure to work with Winnie and be a proud Alumni of The Writers’ Corner. It’s one of the events marked in my calendar that I get excited to see new work in progress.”

Fatima Serghini (writer & dramaturg)
