DIRECTOR CALL OUT

We are looking for a director for a 10 minute online play for our next virtual scratch night! The Writers' Corner is back and this time we are spotlighting writers over 40!

 

About the play

AIBU

Is is acceptable to expect sex in a long-term relationship? When does sexual expectation constitute abuse? What if two people have very different needs? Why do we seek validation online? AIBU is a prolific Mumsnetter who questions her relationship with her husband by posting her issues online.

The performance will be pre recorded and filmed in the third week of July - exact dates are flexible and can work around the director's schedule. This performance would be part of an hour-long ONLINE scratch night and is hosted by the creator of The Writers' Corner - Winnie Arhin. The director will get a free ticket to the event plus one complimentary ticket and access to a recording of the performance.

WRITER CALL OUT

The Writers' Corner is back and looking for me scripts to feature in our upcoming scratch nights!

 

Would you like to test out new material in front of a live audience? Are you on a budget? Maybe not based in a major city? The Writers' Corner is able to give you a platform to showcase your new work from the comfort of your own home.

 

Writer's will get the opportunity to showcase a 10 minute extract from their work over Zoom, our first event of the year will be in late March 2022 (date TBC). The scratch night is hosted live by the founder of The Writers' Corner, Winnie Arhin; a Black-Ghanaian writer, performer and producer. Each performance is per-recorded and the night ends with a Q&A with the writers.

This year there will be four events, each one spotlighting these creative voices:

- Writer Performers

- Comedy Writers

- Writers over 40

- Black writers (African/Caribbean descent)

If you are interested in further developing and showcasing your work please send us a 10 minute extract of a new piece of work (scripts fro the screen, stage and radio are accepted) along with a short bio about you and your piece. Subject being which night you would like to share work in (e.g. Scratch Night - Comedy).

There is a small stipend available and writers also get free tickets to the event.
